Justin Robinson & the Mary Annettes, Humble Tripe, Kelly McRae

When: Sun., March 6, 8 p.m. 2011
Price: $5

So Justin Robinson puts in more than five years with the Carolina Chocolate Drops, culminating with a major-label album that wins a Grammy ... and then leaves? While it's somewhat sad to see him depart the CCD fold, it'll be interesting to follow his adventures with his new bandmates Kyra Moore, Sally Mullikin and Josh Stohl. They've already issued a four-song EP that hints at what's to come on the full-length album, which is already in the can. The song "Vultures" suggests Robinson is bent on pushing traditional forms in intriguing new directions. Humble Tripe and Kelly McRae open the 8 p.m. show—Peter Blackstock
