Just Between Us

The show that closes this evening with a reception and live music is billed as an "art experience," but "anthology" might be more apt. Oft-decorated as a Duke student last year, Sarah Goetz won prizes and awards for performance, film, documentary and visual work, all of which are present in this show. More than 30 watercolor paintings around the gallery bear scrutiny. Poems written in an infinitesimal script hide in their swirls. Visitors can participate in a bimodal film experience, too. Hand-painted 16-mm film is projected onto your face; in turn, you're video-projected onto the storefront across Parrish Street. But the big feature of the show is a hurricane spiral of suspended paper scraps that fills the gallery's width. In each medium, Goetz strives for engagement. The event runs 7–10 p.m. —Chris Vitiello
