Jungle Jack Hanna

When: Sun., May 5, 3 p.m. 2013
Price: $28-58

"Jungle Jack" Hanna is like the avuncular, American version of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin (RIP). A former zoo director and a father of three, Hanna travels around the world with his wife and daughters as part of the nationally syndicated wildlife documentary series Jack Hanna's Into the Wild, a show that's as much about conservation and environmentalism as it is a breathtaking, animal-filled romp through Kenya and Fiji and Montana and Malaysia. The show won an Emmy for Outstanding Children's Series in 2008 and 2012; clearly, Hannah knows how to translate his passion for animals and adventure to the under-10 set. At this kid-friendly event at the Carolina Theatre, Jungle Jack presents "some of his favorite animal friends" and shares stories and footage from his global explorations. —Emma Miller
