Jukebox the Ghost

Jukebox The Ghost, Meligrove Band, Dynamite Walls

When: Wed., Dec. 8, 8 p.m. 2010
Price: $9-$12

Washington, D.C., band Jukebox the Ghost formerly blended Ben Folds Five's piano bounce with Queen's operatic vocals and arrangements, making rapid-change power pop that sounded much larger than its three pieces. But its follow-up finds the trio straightening the course a bit. Toronto quartet the Meligrove Band uses the same playbook as Jukebox, with a few more indie rock moves thrown, while San Diego's Dynamite Walls specializes in slick pop-rock that should be soundtracking television melodramas by now. —Spencer Griffith
