Jphono1, Rogue Band of Youth, Clinton Johnson, Clarq B, Wichita Falls

When: Thu., Jan. 24, 9:30 p.m. 2013
Price: Free

Jphono1 is the project of John Harrison, best known for leading Chapel Hill pop alchemists North Elementary. As with North Elementary, Harrison's casserole-like songwriting approach as Jphono1 draws from an unlikely spread of sources to create a coherent, unpredictable whole. Optimistic slacker vocals ride gentle acoustic jangle and subtle bleeps on "Forever Right Here," though the song's centerpiece is its hypnotic folk meditation. There are soundscapes and soundbites, which intersect gorgeously. Clinton Johnson, Clarq B and Wichita Falls round out this free show, which gets rolling at 9:30 p.m. —Corbie Hill
