Re: “N.C. ranks 11th in child food insecurity

Children seem to always bear the brunt. We see this in insurance coverage, access to health systems and hunger. Our policies need to be targeted at the whole family. We are sad when children are hungry but often people assume that the adults are at "fault." Everybody Eats in DC is planning on addressing food insecurity by opening a community cafe much like Jon Bon Jovi did this fall where people can pay-as-they-can. These have been successful around the country. It will be interesting if they catch on as a way to provide food in "non-emergency" setting like food pantries but still provide food to those that are hungry year round.…
