Re: “A Bill to Regulate the Practice of Hunting Deer with Dogs Stalls, But the Contentious Debate Continues

I support any legal form of hunting, and having recently moved to eastern NC, that includes dog hunting. That being said, it seems to be necessary in this situation to "police your own". If you know people don't like the practice already, and you're still letting dogs run all over private land and such, you're going to create more problems for yourselves. There's a large national forest right outside our town, and from what I've heard, it's become difficult to hunt because everyone runs dogs. I won't be "still" hunting this year because the likely hood of being shot is too high in an area with so many dog hunters waiting along the roads watching for a running deer to come across. Don't get me wrong enjoy a good morning in a treestand as well, but I will be bummed not being able to stalk through the woods. I don't want to see dog hunting disappear, and I would even like to try it once just for the experience- however people need to realize what's going on and get their dogs and situations under control before the WRC or state legislation is forced to make those regulations.
