Re: “Durham prepared foods tax

Without reading Don Moffitt's comment I would have voted against this tax without a second thought.

I support public works by the Durham government and I would much rather them to be payed for with tax dollars rather than bonds. I don't, however, support regressive taxation.

I'm still not convinced that the prepared food tax is the best way to raise these funds, nor am I convinced that it is not regressive. What do the BLS statistics look like for those around the poverty line? Is there no way for Durham to collect additional revenue with progressive taxation?
