Josh Moore, The Dead Tongues

When: Fri., Aug. 28, 10 p.m. 2015
Price: $8
A killer doubleheader: Carrboro-based headliner Josh Moore released his beautiful, long-overdue debut LP, Parted Ways, earlier this summer. Moore reflects on pain, heartache and overcoming both. The songs are tender and exquisite, with Moore’s stunning voice backed by a coterie of expert pals. Ryan Gustafson’s Dead Tongues (in which Moore often plays guitar) is another powerhouse that combines the most biting parts of rock and Americana. Their 2013 album, Desert, and Gustafson’s 2009 Donkey LP are two of the best records to come out of the Triangle during the past decade. —Allison Hussey
