Jorma Kaukonen

When: Sat., Aug. 15, 8:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $20-$30
Guitarist Jorma Kaukonen’s name is carved into San Francisco’s flower-power rock history. He cut his teeth as the backup singer for Janis Joplin in local clubs, founded Jefferson Airplane and then split before it became Jefferson Starship to form his own ur-jam unit Hot Tuna. Now a spry 74, Kaukonen keeps on truckin’; this year’s Ain’t In No Hurry is his fifth full-length in the new millennium, and it offers empirical rewards to those who’ve tuned in and dropped out. —Patrick Wall
