Re: “The travails of Xiu Xiu leader and reluctant Durham resident Jamie Stewart

Chronicle reporter Jonathan Wall checking in. I hope I didn't come off as "baiting" Jamie. He felt the concert was awful, but I thought it was pretty wonderful—a solo set of Xiu Xiu songs on acoustic guitar at Duke Coffeehouse, apparently one oft he first such concerts he had put on in years. I mostly brought up the concert because of its extramusical circumstances, which involved a girl fainting in the middle of "Black Angels OH!" (or something). It was a strange evening, for sure, but the music wasn't the problem.

I only saw his experimental set once (at Nightlight), but I thought it was good (much better than some local showcases I've seen there)—snare drums and duck calls and so on.
