Jonathan Miles

When: Fri., Nov. 22, 7 p.m. 2013
The recent recipient of a rave review by Dave Eggers in The New York Times, Jonathan Miles' satirical novel Want Not explores a diverse and multigenerational cast of characters in New York whose lives are affected by the consumer culture, ranging from urban scavengers to debt collectors. It's a world in which everything is being cast off; what remains is what people have left behind, both physically and metaphorically. Also, there's a bit where a guy has a "perfect bowel movement." That should give you an idea of whether you're going to read this or not. —Zack Smith
