John McCutcheon

When: Sat., Nov. 7, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $16-$24
Practically the archetype of a folksinger (he owns the domain name “FolkMusic.com,”) John McCutcheon wraps political and social commentary around acoustic strums and direct storytelling. During a 40-year career that’s included 36 albums, McCutcheon has amassed a half-dozen Grammy nominations. His songs remain topical and immediate: Shortly after the shooting at Charleston’s Mother Emanuel church, McCutcheon aimed his sights squarely at the Confederate flag with “Take It Down.” —Spencer Griffith
