I love comics like I love pudding, and I'm a man who loves his pudding. But admittedly, a whole lot of the most recognizable superheroes don't have comics appropriate for kids who enjoy their films, cartoons, video games and branded snack products. Quite a few seem to get their arms blown off. A lot. And lord forbid you want a good role model for your daughter, unless you want her to grow up wearing cat suits and/ or thongs. Local creator Jeremy Whitley has taken steps to help rectify this with Princeless, the tale of a princess assigned to wait in a tower to be rescued by a prince, who thinks better of this and takes off with the dragon assigned to guard her. Witty, action-packed and a sly commentary on many classic stereotypes, Princeless has been nominated for two Eisner Awards, comics' highest honors, and five Glyph Awards, which honor comics' depiction of African-American characters. Whitley will sign copies of the new Princeless collection from 1–3 p.m. —Zack Smith
