Jeffrey Eugenides

When: Sat., Oct. 29, 7 p.m. 2011

In his new book, The Marriage Plot, Pulitzer Prize winner Jeffrey Eugenides tackles relationships from a decidedly different perspective than his hermaphrodite-themed best-seller Middlesex. Tackling the classic interpersonal drama of such writers as Jane Austen, Eugenides tells the tale of an English major in the 1980s who finds herself torn between two intellectual, offbeat men in the midst of examining the classics. One of them, critics have noted, resembles the late David Foster Wallace. Eugenides will read from and sign copies of The Marriage Plot at the Regulator at 7 p.m. He also appears at Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh at 3 p.m. Sunday for a signing-line ticketed event. —Zack Smith
