When: Wed., Oct. 8, 7:30 p.m. 2014

When is a conductor’s baton not a baton? When it’s Wynton Marsalis’ trumpet. The legendary artistic director of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra leads the globetrotting troupe onto the Memorial Hall stage. JLCO comprises 15 masterful jazz players, all capable as soloists or in snapping as a swinging ensemble. Marsalis was recently made a United Nations Messenger of Peace for his work with the JLCO. —Chris Vitiello
