Re: “The two faces of Bo Lozoff

This article leaves a lot of important information out which is in the transcript of the full interview with the reporter. Please read that interview for yourself if you are questioning Bo as a person or a source of inspiration. I'm glad I did. I read this article and felt horribly about Bo but after I read the transcript I understood the context of so much that was going on, which this article leaves out. http://www.indyweek.com/pdf/082708/BoLozoffTranscript.pdf

The most important thing to realize is that when dealing with many people who've not only ended up in prison, but are fresh out of it, is that you are going to be dealing with some of the most extreme dysfunctional people possible, and that comes with a lot of headaches. There's no lack of drama, that much is for sure. I've only dealt with a few messed up people in my life and can barely imagine the types of nightmares Bo and Sita had to work through. It's no surprise they shut things down, and it's no surprise that they couldn't find a single other program like it available, which was their motivation for starting it up in the first place.

This article is out of context, and it's unfortunate because the public won't take the time to dig deeper and find out what was going on. They'll just read the couple of lines on wikipedia this article generated, and google will forever have demonized Bo Lozoff, a man who has been of immense inspiration to countless thousands, far beyond what is reasonable.
