January 2013 INDY Animals

Meet Bernie … a wonderful spokesdog for the potential of every shelter dog. Bernie is an 8 year-old shepherd mix who started life as a stray puppy atPaws4Ever’s Adoption Center where he found a loving, supportive foster family and soon after, a permanent home. With gentle, reward based training, Bernie blossomed and became a certified therapy dog and a member of the Paws4Ever Dog Drill Team. Many dogs just like Bernie are waiting in local shelter and rescues for someone to commit some time, effort, and force free training techniques to help them become someone’s best friend. K9 Kindness is a Triangle based non-profit that is dedicated to force free, humane training for all dogs in the Triangle. Please visit www.k9kindness.org for more information about our humane education programs for adults and children, including our Kids4Kindness program, online resources, and links to local reward based dog trainers. — Jenn Merritt, Efland
