Re: “Pope Foundation failed to file tax returns on time

My comments & observations pertained ONLY to the article re late payment of taxes not his politics. The record shows that he did pay his taxes in accordance within the legal statutory framework that all taxpayers are afforded and held to by the IRS. The insinuation is that he either tried to evade his tax responsibilities or seek special treatment by way of influence. Nowhere in the article does it say that his situation was remotely related to "simple inability to pay taxes" .

Re: “Pope Foundation failed to file tax returns on time

The way I see this is that Mr Pope is being crucified for having asked for and been granted extensions by the IRS as all US citizens and legal entities are entitled to do by law. There is not one shred of evidence that Pope and any groups associated with his name did not pay their taxes whatsoever. As for the personal hardships that Pope refers to as being relative to his having filed tax returns (and paid $$) late along w/ any penalties for doing so, I would hope that none of us taxpayers are ever subjected to family crisises that influence all of our lives from time to time. Pope appears to be trashed for having family problems and then for legally following the rules afforded to all taxpayers for late filings/payments.
