Jake Xerxes Fussell, Zeke Graves, David Prather and Alan Langham

When: Thu., Aug. 6, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $7
As a kid, Jake Xerxes Fussell rode around with his dad on academic trips, recording Southern folk music. His impulse to carry on those old traditions wasn’t born from stray Spotify clicks. His self-titled debut, released earlier this year on Chapel Hill’s Paradise of Bachelors, translates old blues and folk songs with vibrant crackle and pop. Though produced by experimental guitarist William Tyler, they tilt more reverential than revisionist. —Jeff Klingman
