Comedy

Brought to us by the fellows behind the Jackass franchise, Bad Grandpa is held together by the thinnest of plot devices. Irving Zisman (Johnny Knoxville), an 86-year-old widower, is asked by his daughter to drive his 8-year-old grandson Billy (Jackson Nicoll) across America; she is a drug addict with a prison sentence on the horizon, and she wants Billy to stay with his deadbeat father in North Carolina until she gets out. The plot is only an excuse to capture Knoxville causing havoc in a ton of makeup on camera. The hijinks that the duo get up to with unsuspecting participants on their journey serve only to remind the audience of how new this all felt when Borat was first released. There are some laughs to be found here, but be prepared for endless gags featuring prosthetic genitalia.
