Re: “Durham prepared foods tax

Creating a tax to fund projects when there are bonds to pay for our specific needs makes no sense. The city leaders have done a poor job with both project and money management. Durham's balance sheet and infrastructure are in dire need and yet there remains a continued effort to avert attention from pressing problems with a disregard for openness and a reliance on Arthur Andersen style accounting. I am particularly upset with the former city manager Mr. Patrick Baker, though my ire does not stop with him. Why should we trust city leadership with more money when they have mismanaged what we have given them so far. The current administration does not represent the capable and intelligent people who live here. I am going to vote against this tax.
