International Festival of Raleigh

When: Oct. 1-3 2010
Price: $5-7

Starting tonight, the Convention Center will be full of music, dancing, food and activities from just about every country around the world. The festival runs through the weekend and caters to every age group, from the bouncy castle for the kids to the Biergarten for the adults. Tonight's highlights include dances from Ireland, Venezuela and Japan on the main stage; music from France and Scandinavia in the Biergarten; cooking demonstrations from Vietnam and India; and salsa and Bollywood dance demonstrations. Along with the live entertainment will be plenty of world bazaars to shop from and sidewalk cafés to eat at, as well as "Sophia's Corner" with face painting and a passport scavenger hunt for kids of all ages. The festival kicks off today at 4:30 p.m. and continues through Sunday. —Lauren Shute
