Using the arguments of former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, Jacob Kornbluth's documentary tells the story of America's ever-widening gap between the rich and the working class in a remarkably digestible way. For decades, Reich has championed the idea that investment in middle-class citizens and the programs that benefit them are what made America prosperous in the 20th century. Reich argues that it remains the path back to a more desirable distribution of wealth and opportunity. He illustrates America's complex miscalculations—incorporated with the stories and perspectives of both those who belong to the top 1 percent and the bottom 99—in compelling and effective ways.
