Here's a rundown of 4th festivities:
Carrboro 9:30 a.m.: Kickoff activities at Weaver Street Market lawn; 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.: Celebration at Town Hall featuring David Holt & The Lighting Bolts
Cary 3-9:30 p.m.: U.S. Army Band, U.S. Herald Trumpets, N.C. Symphony and more followed by fireworks at Booth Amphitheatre
Chapel Hill 7-10 p.m.: Black & Blue Dance & Show Band and fireworks at Kenan Stadium
Durham 6 p.m.: Performances by Lyon Park dance group Eclipse and Johnny White & The Elite Band at American Tobacco Historic District Amphitheatre; 7:30 pm: Durham Bulls Athletic Park opens during seventh inning and House of Rhythm Band plays at game's end followed by fireworks
Raleigh 11 a.m.-3 p.m.: Music, dancing, military displays, crafts, activities and ";A Salute to Independence" at the State Capitol and Museum of History; 1-9 p.m.: Carnival rides, food, Snoopy's hot-dog eating contest, fireworks and more at the N.C. State Fairgrounds
