Re: “Will parking fees crush downtown Raleigh?

In reality, most people who come to visit here are very surprised (of course pleasantly ) that there are no parking fees in most places in the city for the most part. That being said, the proposal is very modest and it will go a long way toward paying for the services that were described in the article. We seem to be the only downtown area that doesn't charge anything. Those people who are using the downtown should probably contribute to the maintenance and upkeep and help continue to make downtown Raleigh a viable area to want to visit. There are many people who don't go down there at all, so a nominal charge fits.

If the business owners are so concerned they can offer some kind of token if people frequent their establishment, as other places do to be an incentive to visit their business over another one. That's good marketing if you ask me.

Re: “Greg Fishel was once a Limbaugh-loving climate skeptic. Now he’s fighting global warming.

I'm just surprised it took him this long. I've always liked Greg Fishel, as we arrived in Raleigh around the same time and WRAL was the station we always watched, but am disappointed that he took this long to evaluate the situation, and at the same time happy to hear that he is sharing his epiphany with others. He is learning first hand though what years of watching Fox News can do to a person's soul.

Re: “An open letter to Wake school superintendent Anthony Tata

Excellent, well thought out letter. I appreciate the efforts that went into it and the civility with which it was expressed. Thank you, Mr. Geary
