If My Feet Have Left the Ground

When: Wed., March 20, 7:30 p.m. and Thu., March 21, 7:30 p.m. 2013
Price: Free

As an urban puppeteer par excellence, Torry Bend has captivated and challenged audiences in recent years with cinematic theater works, including five-star productions of The Paper Hat Game in 2011 and 2012. March 20–21, audiences get the first chance to see her newest work, for free. UNC's Process Series, which hosts developmental public showings of works still in gestation, presents this toy theater play about the literal and metaphorical flights that two people separated by an ocean undertake in their struggle to stay together. Is there a cure for gravity? And if so, what happens if it proves more problematic than the disease? Creative partner Raquel Salvatella de Prada provides aerial videography in this collaboration with designers Sarah Krainin and Jeannette Yew. —Byron Woods
