I Was Totally Destroying It, The Company We Keep, The Record

When: Wed., March 27, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $5-10

Though I Was Totally Destroying It has grown darker and more adventurous with each release, the group still leads the Triangle in hooks per minute by a wide margin. They use guitars as much as synths to buoy their earworms and trademark coed harmonies. Like-minded start-up The Company We Keep teams The Receiving End of Sirens multi-instrumentalist Brian Southall and Misery Signals drummer Branden Morgan with recently added vocalist Haden Brightwell. Justin Pierre fronts IWTDI pals Motion City Soundtrack and co-writes songs for the project, but he isn't touring with the band. Carrboro quartet The Record opens with '90s-like alt-rock. —Spencer Griffith
