I Do! I Do!

When: May 29-June 9 2013
Price: $22-30

I Do! I Do! is a favorite of regional theater companies, largely because the show, which has just one set (a bedroom dominated by a large bed), is so cheap to run. Based on the Jan de Hartog play The Fourposter, the two-character story tracks Michael and Agnes Snow across the ups and downs of a 50-year marriage, beginning on their wedding day in 1895. It makes sense that we only ever see them in the bedroom—isn't this where the drama in most couples' lives unfolds? Theatre Raleigh says the play is appropriate for all ages, but it's doubtful that your wee ones will get the references to infidelity and maturation and growing together and forgiveness. Or maybe they will. If so, pat yourself on the back for having such precocious children. —Emma Miller
