Howard Levy

When: Fri., Aug. 16, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $12-20

The dossier on harmonica master Howard Levy's Wikipedia page describes his genre(s) thusly: "jazz, classical, world, Latin, Indian, folk, Eastern, Middle Eastern, baroque, swing, bebop, funk, rock, Celtic, country, R&B, fusion." Let's just say he's versatile. Levy was a founding member of the genre-busting Béla Fleck & the Flecktones way back in 1988; he recently rejoined after a long absence. In the meantime, he made a half-dozen solo records, including 2010's intimidatingly titled Concerto for Diatonic Harmonica and Orchestra. Catch Levy, without his orchestra, at this intimate gig. —Peter Blackstock
