How John Brown gets his sound 

John Brown is known for his versatility, articulation, education and UNC law degree. He's been a bass teacher at Duke University since 2001 and started directing its jazz program in 2003. See him Sept. 28 at Duke University's Baldwin Auditorium with the John Brown Quintet; Oct. 3 at Duke's Reynolds Theater with the John Brown Jazz Orchestra; and Oct. 4 at Duke's Reynolds Theater with John Brown Trio and The Ciompi Quartet.
