This dark comedy resonates on two levels. First is the comic chemistry between the three leads—Justin Bateman as the straight man, Charlie Day as the hyper ditz and Jason Sudeikis as the clueless oaf—playing miserable worker bees trapped under the thumb of their respective odious bosses. Kevin Spacey is Bateman's ultra-egotistical exec, Colin Farrell plays a cokehead lout trying to run his late father's chemical company and Sudeikis into the ground, and Jennifer Aniston is a dentist who sexually terrorizes her engaged hygienist (Day). Second is the gloomy real-life job market that silently explains why each subordinate doesn't just tell their respective superior to take this job and shove it. Instead, the friends hatch a scheme to kill each other's bosses. Profane, uproarious and irreverent, it's one of the few comedies that becomes funnier as the zaniness increases.
