Honey Magpie, Jeff Thompson

When: Fri., Feb. 10, 8 p.m. 2017
Price: $6
The Triangle’s Honey Magpie plans to wrap recording on its debut album next month after running a successful crowdfunding campaign last fall, Though the band has a fondness for covering Carole King and Bob Dylan classics, its originals find a trio of songwriters setting earthy lyricism to lush folk arrangements, with guitar, piano, cello, and violin gracefully wrapped around plaintive lead vocals and sweet three-part harmonies. Asheville singer-songwriter Jeff Thompson opens. —Spencer Griffith
