Homebrewed Raleigh

When: Sat., Oct. 23, 1-8 p.m. 2010
Phone: 832-3775
Price: $30

Perhaps it's a sign of our desperate times, but DIY food hasn't been this pervasive since the Great Depression. Or the Middle Ages, perhaps. Home brewing is another survival skill for the apocalypse. Water, yeast, malt, hops and grains are the essential ingredients of a concoction that has been brewed for thousands of years. Thanks to the smash success of last year's inaugural fundraising event, Raleigh City Museum is bringing it back. Tickets are $30, and there are two windows of opportunity, 1–4 p.m. and 5–8 p.m., to sample the homemade product of some of Raleigh's finest practitioners, as well as enjoy the food and music on hand. All proceeds benefit Raleigh City Museum. Call 832-3775 for tickets, or purchase them at the museum, Busy Bee Cafe, Flying Saucer or American Brewmaster. —David Fellerath
