Hey Brothers

When: Sat., July 6, 6-8 p.m. 2013

"There's just something about the rhythm of [bluegrass] and the simplicity, the purity of it that keeps you coming back," says John Dudley, the banjo man of The Hey Brothers. The quintet's members cycled through the local scene for years before teaming up to play modern bluegrass built on italicized rhythms and tight harmonies. They share lead vocal duties, so their dynamic harmonies shift shape from one tune to the next. They'll present a batch of traditional reels and originals at their second turn on the Saxapahaw Rivermill's music series stage. —Ashley Melzer
