Well done! Great interview, great show.

Re: “Don't Tell Ashley Christensen What to Do with Her Bathrooms

This person is not mad about the bathrooms, she's mad about the statement. And that's her right. Just as it is my right to take glee in the fact that this woman will have to face her prejudice in just about any decent restaurant in town.

My employer happily takes a Sanitary Grade point reduction for not having a designated women's room.

Re: “Cops find drugs at Raleigh Phish show, very proud of selves

Hey that's a lot of money in one night at this municipal fundraiser. It's like, 20 grand plus whatever kickback they will no doubt get from whichever private prison they send the several who might actually get locked up.

My chiseled calves couldn't be happier. My sun-kissed brows still think it's too damn hot outside.

Re: “Deep South gets the State Fair's music contract, but flubs its own Oak City 7 series

I think this is where some cognitive dissonance exists when it comes to people who know about music. People like the author who have serious and extensive music criticism credentials are people who are more likely to hate cover bands and see far more value in risk taking and recognition of talent over fame. But in my view, what the average person, or what I call the "citizen" (H/T Omar Little) wants is shit they know. And if it can't be Journey, let it be a Journey cover band. When it comes to a series like Oak City 7, I think having good local acts with a cover headliner is an intriguing idea that might truly lead to a band like Seagulls being seen by people who will never see them at Kings or Pinhook. Maybe not a terrible thing.

Full Disclosure: I know the people interviewed personally, am in two really kickass cover bands and four "You Be the Judge" original bands, one of which is managed by Deep South ENtertainment.

Re: “Suicide apparent in shooting death of son of pro-gun rights N.C. Rep.

No one here who is criticizing the writer of this article actually cares one bit about the life of this person or his family. As they strive for a more violent world, they see tragic deaths such as this one as collateral damage, the price of freedom. So when they come here shouting names at Jane Porter or Sarah Green, just know that they are being purely disingenuous. They have no reverence whatsoever for human life. They would rather see people die than merely consider looking into ways to prevent it.
