Henry Rollins

When: Sat., Jan. 6, 7:30 p.m. 2018

When they say everything old is new again, believe them. One short century ago, legendary low-key radio newsman and raconteur Lowell Thomas made major coin after he more or less invented the modern travelogue, touring the heartland as he narrated the cavalcades of photographs and film he made as a journalist in Alaska, Europe during World War I, and the Middle East with Lawrence of Arabia. Iconic Black Flag singer turned storyteller and columnist Henry Rollins presumably won't be wearing tweeds and loafers when he cues up his slide projector with shots he's taken in Antarctica, Central Asia, South America, and the Middle East. Still, the stories accompanying them should be pretty choice—and they're sure to be a bit more intense than Lowell's. —Byron Woods
