As a film with terrible trailers, this has a shot at being the biggest surprise of 2014. Adapting the best-selling book of the same name, Greg Kinnear puts in some of his finest acting as Todd Burpo, a small-town preacher hit with uncertainty after his 4-year-old son claims to have visited Heaven during an emergency operation. Both Burpo and his congregation are struck by the fact that they have a hard time actually believing in the very thing that they discuss several days a week. The film contains fantastic supporting turns from the rest of the cast, as well as career-best direction by Randall Wallace (We Were Soldiers).
