Heather Havrilesky

When: Wed., Jan. 5, 7 p.m. 2011

Heather Havrilesky brings a lot of things to the table that make me smile: sarcasm (as a former cartoonist for Suck.com), wit (honed during her seven years reviewing "crappy" TV for Salon) and insight (poured into her new memoir, Disaster Preparedness, which recounts her North Carolina childhood and early adulthood). The Durham native returns home from Los Angeles to celebrate the release of this entertaining debut memoir. —Lindsay Parker
