"Healin' with a Feelin': A Night of Burnin' Love"

When: Sat., June 25, 8 p.m. 2011
Price: $15 donation

Four and a half months after an unattended frying pan caught fire and sent local architect Kim Anderson into UNC's Jaycee Burn Center, he walked out a changed man. Anderson had spent two months in a coma, received five skin grafts and suffered an untold amount of rehabilitation while recovering from critical third-degree burns and heat-related lung injuries. Gratified by his ability to go on with his life after such a traumatic experience, Anderson and his family organized this benefit as a way to express their thanks for his caretakers. The event features music from the BilliTones, Rebecca & the Hi-Tones, South Wing and the Willie Painter Band, plus a silent auction. They're asking for a $15 donation. —Ashley Melzer
