I could not agree more with the article. If you build great buildings and have a city that works people will come from all over the globe! Having said that there is not much in Raleigh now that would make people go to great lengths to come here. The CAM is great, and NCMA has a wonderful collection and a great art park experience but the city itself is lacking character. I love Raleigh but having something really great like the 21c in Durham that makes people think, maybe even a little uncomfortable will keep people guessing, and yes it will keep them coming back for more! You can't believe how many tens of thousands of people from around the world will travel to Cadilac Ranch in Texas, or to Marfa Texas to see a little tiny Prada store in the middle of the desert just because they can tell people they were there! What do we have to offer like that?... Art Space is nice but we need WoW!!!
