Re: “Theater review: A moving and joyous production of Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity

how can the "magical numbers ..been freely modified, with the creator's blessing,
from the original 1961 version," since Hughes is deceased, UNLESS he, in his will,
said 'do what you want with it' or something like that. Howard M. Romaine

Re: “They adopted the old name, but Students for a Democratic Society forge their own path

I'm glad your paper is keeping up with developments of SDS in this century, and that Dick J. Reavis is around to give his immortal advice. However, "Freedom Summer" was '64, and Reavis' '65 actions, as beautifully described in his book, When White Kids Die, (or something like that) describe his work with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference's '65 project, as well as followup by his Texas Campus group..a great short read. .Another one ..now out in paperback , is Building a Better South, by Gregg Michelle, which describes the work of the Southern Student Organizing Committee with had a regional impact, in my opinion, substantially larger than that of SDS, which was primarily an Eastern, midwestern urban, and West Coast outfit, HOWARD ROMAINE, chair ssoc, 1965-66
