Hal Johnson

When: Fri., Jan. 18, 7 p.m. 2013

Yeah, it ain't never easy being a teenager. Case in point: Myron Horowitz, the disfigured 13-year-old protagonist of Hal Johnson's Immortal Lycanthropes. Myron is just trying to fit in at his school until a fight leaves him unconscious and naked in the wreckage of the cafeteria, and he finds out he's really a were-mammal who can transform from human to animal, and others of his kind want him dead. Y'all say it with me now: Ain't that a bitch? Johnson discusses the misery he puts his teen protagonist through at this 7 p.m. appearance; he'll also be at Flyleaf Books at 7 p.m. on Saturday. —Zack Smith
