Guy Blakeslee

When: Tue., Dec. 15, 9:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $7
On Ophelia Slowly, Entrance Band main man Guy Blakeslee employs the tragic Shakespeare heroine as the focus of a loose song cycle. Unsurprisingly, it’s melodramatic as hell. Blakeslee deploys his voice in a series of overwrought acrobatic leaps and yawps, à la Jeff Buckley or Muse’s Matt Bellamy. Songs are alternately sparse folk and overstuffed alt-rock. It aims to be haunting, like the best of his solo and band work, but it’s too mercurial to make much of an impression. —Patrick Wall
