Growing Together

When: April 8-29 2014
In 1984, while studying at The Penland School of Crafts, Marthanna Yater began photographing two 6-year-old twins from the community of Celo in the mountains of Yancey County. She continued to do so for the next 30 years and counting, forging an almost familial bond with Hannah and Molly Levin. This remarkable exhibit of the photographs, supplemented with familial artifacts, chronicles that relationship and the twins' lives as they move into adulthood, motherhood and artistic careers of their own. The artist and her subjects will be at the opening reception, where Hannah, a singer/songwriter, will perform. —Brian Howe
