GROHG, Demon Eye, Chest Pains

When: Thu., July 26, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $5

With an opening set of tangled punk, Durham's Chest Pains set a high bar for this triple-header. The band's been around on and off since 2004; lately their mix of Minutemen agility with Flipper's deliberate pacing and murky scuzz has returned again to local stages. They'll be a tough act to follow, but Raleigh's Grohg should be up to the task. Only three weeks after releasing its thunderous punk-metal debut, Culture of Petty Thieves, Grohg brings its intense dynamics and textural finesse to the top of this heavy bill. Demon Eye fills the middle. Bryan C. Reed
