Greg Proops

When: Feb. 23-25 2012
Price: $15-30

Many of you may know sharp-dressed, bespectacled comic Greg Proops from his days making stuff up on the improv game show Whose Line Is It Anyway?, trying his best to snatch up some laughs whenever Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie weren't hamming it up or Wayne Brady wasn't singing to a chick. (He flexed his ad-libbing muscles more freely on the British version of Whose Line, where he made it a continuing effort to make balding host Clive Anderson his bitch.) But did you also know Proops is the smartest man in the world? Well, that's what he believes, according to the title of his podcast, The Smartest Man in the World. His endlessly erudite stand-up riffs have made him a well-respected vet of the San Francisco comedy scene, and he brings that same sardonic, sartorial wit to his podcast (available on his website,, which he usually records live at whatever venue will have him. He'll be continuing that tradition Thursday at 10:15 p.m.; tickets are $15, or $90 for a premium table seating four. Proops also performs at 8:30 p.m. Thursday and at 8 and 10:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday, though those shows won't be recorded for the podcast. —Craig D. Lindsey
