Gracious Few, American Bang

When: Tue., Oct. 5, 8 p.m. 2010
Price: $20-25

The Gracious Few is purportedly a supergroup, though the "super" qualifier could justifiably be omitted. In reality, the new quintet is a joint venture between the leftovers of two otherwise lifeless, second-tier post-grunge bands: Guitarist Chad Taylor, bassist Patrick Dahlheimer and drummer Chad Gracey—essentially Live, save estranged lead singer Ed Kowalczyk—are joined by Candlebox frontman Kevin Martin and rhythm guitarist Sean Hennesy in an attempt to re-create the glory of decades past. The resulting album is a bland attempt at alt-rock revivalism rife with melodramatic lyrics and mediocre riffage. Behold the '90s reincarnate at 8 p.m.; tickets are $20–$25 and require no actual time travel. —Spencer Griffith
