Re: “Latest from PPP: Amendment 1 is (uh-oh) holding its lead

North Carolina Same-Sex Marriage, Amendment 1 (May 2012)
The measure would define marriage in the state constitution as between one man and one woman, and would ban any other type of "domestic legal union" such as civil unions and domestic partnerships. Same-sex marriage is already illegal in the state of North Carolina. The proposed measure, however, would add the ban to the state constitution

Proponent of this bill has come up with a clever way to masquerade it by saying that this bill will put a strain on thousands of NC. Families. They are asking do you want to destroy thousands of little boys and girls health care. When I asked for the stats to support their theory they stated that they did not have any facts. The proponents said well it’s a civil rights issue at that point I put on my civil rights hat and asked how can you claim that by defeating amendment 1 is taking civil rights away. Blacks fought against a system that was denying rights due to skin color blacks did not have a choice in what color they were. I like many blacks should be insulted that they are trying to attach this fight with the civil rights moment and dragging some of the black leadership along this dusty road with them.
For Christians this should be a moral issue if you are bible based then your choice should be very easy. The proponents are saying that the Christian are maladjusted unable to cope with the demands of the environment.
Reverend Dr. William Barber II, the head of the N.A.A.C.P. in North Carolina. The N.A.A.C.P. was among the first organizations to join the Coalition or proponents to defeat this bill (along with more usual suspects like the A.C.L.U., colleges and universities, and libertarian groups), again defying the hopes and expectations of anti-gay-marriage activists who have said in the past that they considered the African-American community to be a likely ally. I personally think Rev. Barber is on the wrong side of this issue he is not bible based or Christ centered on this fight.
