Goo Goo Dolls, Michelle Branch, Parachute

When: Wed., Aug. 3, 6:30 p.m. 2011
Price: $27-$62.50

The Goo Goo Dolls have long seemed to be a band that would be better to hang out with than actually listen to. Into their third decade now, this Buffalo trio has impeccable tastes in covers, taking on Tommy Keene, Blue yster Cult, Prince and the Plimsouls. Bassist Robby Takac runs a musical nonprofit, and John Rzeznik is a bootstraps-reared fellow who lost both of his parents as a teenager and persevered into fame. And not only were they once called Sex Maggots, but they also released two albums on Metal Blade before jumping to Warner Bros. for 1993's Superstar Car Wash. Maybe they'll be at Neptune's after the gig? With Michelle Branch and Parachute. —Grayson Currin
